Sad Songs

A little boy asked my wife what her favourite sad song was. I thought and thought and couldn’t come up with a single song. I could name an album though. Let Me Go, Let Me Go, Let Me Go by Jason Molina. Absolutely devastating. Cannot get through it without tears. Then I thought more about a song and came up with The Weight by Kathryn Joseph but more recently the new track by Bon Iver opens with the lines:

“I know now that I can't make good
But how I wish I could go back and put
Me where you stood
Nothing's really something now the
Whole thing's cooked”

Which just about sums up everything at the moment.
