Joshua Bonnetta - The Pines
A really interesting project this. Only available on pre-order this record raises the question of what sounds happen when nobody is listening. Attaching microphones to a single pine tree in upstate New York across the span of a year Bonnetta explores the sonic life of the the tree. There will obviously be lots of scepticism around this project but what is for certain, the soundscape captured through the absence of humans is certainly more interesting and alive than had he been present. You can listen to one of the movements below and it’s so worth it regardless of the artistic intent.
